LONG BEACH – A Los Angeles man was taken into custody Tuesday on suspicion of murdering a woman he was dating in Long Beach, authorities said.

Timothy Campbell, 35, was arrested Monday in connection with the shooting death of 43-year-old Myriam Zaragoza. According to Long Beach police, the woman was found injured in the 2300 block of Locust Avenue around 3:25 p.m. on June 19.

She died at the scene of the accident.

Campbell was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held on $2 million bail, according to the LBPD and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“Investigators concluded that the victim and suspect were in a relationship,” police said in a statement. “The motive remains under investigation; however, it is believed that the incident was one of domestic violence.”

Detectives will submit the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact LBPD homicide detectives Michael Hubbard or Jesus Espinoza at 562-570-7244. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit www.lacrimestoppers.org.
