Delta renames building on Atlanta campus after CEO credited with helping airline emerge from bankruptcy – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — Atlanta-based Delta Airlines recently renamed its executive building on its Atlanta campus in honor of its former CEO Jerry Grinstein.

Delta said the name change honors Grinstein’s “transformational impact on the company.”

Grinstein became CEO of the airline in 2004, when the airline was in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. He is credited with restoring the airline’s culture. Thanks in large part to Grinstein’s leadership, Delta emerged from bankruptcy on April 30, 2007.

“This building truly belongs to the people of Delta – to the genius of the people and their will to keep going through difficult times,” Grinstein said at the event. “You can’t help but have a passion for this business. He’s the best in the business, and there’s no one like him.

Grinstein also created the Delta Care & Scholarship Fund, which has awarded more than $31 million in grants to Delta employees to date.

Now aged 92, he retired in 2007.
