Cynthia Lorntzen killed, Francisco Gonzalez arrested in drunk driving crash near Shay Road and Phantom

VICTORVILLE, CA (June 25, 2024) — Cynthia Lorntzen died in a drunk driving accident near Shay Road and Phantom.

According to Victorville police, the fatal car crash occurred on Sunday around 7:00 p.m. For reasons of driving under the influence Francisco Enrique Gonzalez lost control of a Can-Am three-wheel motorcycle near Shay Road. The vehicle then approached an embankment when Gonzalez attempted to brake. However, the Can-Am left the road and rolled down a large embankment.

Shortly thereafter, rescue workers arrived and took a 19-year-old passenger to a trauma center. A second passenger, later identified as 61-year-old Cynthia Lynn Lorntzen, died at the scene.

After investigating, officers arrested Gonzalez, of Adelanto, who appeared to be impaired at the time of the incident. He has a previous conviction for drunk driving in 2017. If witnesses have any additional information about this fatal crash, please call Victorville Police at (760) 241-2911.
