Shooting spree in an office near a shopping center ends with the suspect dead, no one else was injured

Chattanooga police said a shooting at an office building near Hamilton Place Mall Monday afternoon left the suspect dead and no one else in the office injured.

Police spokesman Victor Miller said the suspect “failed to carry out his plan” and then shot himself.

He said no one else was shot at the office at 2034 Hamilton Place Blvd.

The alarm came from an active shooter.

According to sources, a disgruntled employee was involved in the incident.

Chattanooga Police previously said, “CPD is located at 2034 Hamilton Place Blvd. regarding a possible shooting. Please avoid the area at this time. Updates to follow.”

The tenants of the building at this location include the Air Pollution Bureau.

At 4 p.m., police announced that the mall’s lockdown would be lifted.

Mall officials had previously stated: “Reports of gunfire near Hamilton Place Mall have not been confirmed.”

“As a precautionary measure, we ask you to close down now.

“Please allow customers in your area access to your premises if necessary.”

Numerous police vehicles and ambulances drove to the office building. Several authorities were involved in the operation.
