A Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Saturday for sexually assaulting a department volunteer, according to a report.

According to prison records, 33-year-old Deputy Alexander Vanny is accused of three serious crimes:

  • Rape through violence or fear
  • Forced oral sex

According to The Press-Enterprise, the woman reported the assault to another officer on Friday, who in turn told his supervisor.

Vanny was arrested on Acacia Avenue in Hemet on Saturday. Although officials did not release the exact location of the arrest, the Hemet station is on Acacia Avenue.

He was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility and released on $1 million bail Sunday. He is scheduled to appear in court the morning of Aug. 5 at the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center.

Vanny, who was hired by the Sheriff’s Department in 2016, has been placed on leave.
