Kandi Burruss supports Kenya Moore despite RHOA ban

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss may have left the franchise at the end of season 15 in 2023, but she’s still speaking out about the drama, both on and off camera. In a clip from a recent appearance on the radio show “Yung Joc & The Streetz Morning Takeover” shared on the show’s Instagram page on June 21, Burruss shared her opinion on the recent suspension of her former co-star Kenya Moore, which Bravo issued during filming of season 16.

“You know what? Right now I’m like, ‘Okay, it’s good that I’m not there,’ but Cynthia (Bailey) says once the show is on the air, I’m going to miss her,” Burruss said. “Now I don’t miss her as much. And realistically, I see things and I’m like, ‘Why are they doing this?’ For example, I don’t like that they suspended Kenya. I know a lot of people are like, ‘She shouldn’t have shown that,’ but that’s ‘Housewives.'”

Kandi Burruss disagrees with Bravo’s decision

Moore was suspended after a filmed event was shown at her business, Kenya Moore Hair Spa, where she allegedly displayed posters with explicit images of her new co-star Brittany Eady. Eady was not present at the event, but caught wind of the revelation before Bravo officially announced the suspension, and she and Moore both responded on social media.

“Thank you to everyone who contacted me about yesterday’s event. I am still processing the nasty, vile, disgusting, heinous things that were done to try and hurt me. BULLYING and revenge porn are never okay,” Eady wrote in an Instagram story at the time.

Moore, for her part, denied any allegations of revenge porn, tweeting: “I would never engage in revenge porn, I have never distributed anyone’s private images or footage, nor have I requested images from others to threaten or blackmail. I have always been vindicated. I cannot speak on STORY even when people spread fake news #sweet16 🔥.”

Burruss felt the network had been too harsh in its decision, adding on the show: “How many times have we done something you think you shouldn’t do? So who made the rules? Why do you suddenly have such a problem with someone doing something crazy to someone else?”

Still, Burruss remains open-minded about the upcoming 16th season of RHOA, adding, “I just wasn’t that excited, but we’ll see when it’s on TV.”

What did Kenya Moore say when Kandi Burruss left RHOA?

Moore spoke about Burruss’ exit from the franchise in a February 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, telling the outlet, “When she told me she had made the decision not to return, I said, ‘Are you sure? Really think about it. Are you sure? You know, you’ve been there 14 years in a row…’ and she’s so well-liked and so respected, and I think once she made the decision, it was really clear that she felt good about it. I said, ‘You know what? I’m going to stand by you. If that’s what you really want, and that’s where your heart leads you, I’m totally for it.'”
