Report: 1 dead and 7 injured in shooting outside nightclub in Kentucky

Kentucky, USA:

One person was killed and seven others injured in a shooting outside a nightclub in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday (local time), CNN reported, citing police.

When emergency responders arrived at the H20 Lounge at 12:47 a.m. local time, they found two people with gunshot wounds, according to a statement from the Louisville Police Metro Department. One of the victims, a man, was later pronounced dead.

Police said the second person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel later reported that six more victims, all adults, were taken to area hospitals for treatment after the shooting.

According to Aaron Ellis, police spokesman, all six people were shot. Police said: “The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”

Police did not release any information about the suspect and it is unclear how many people opened fire or what caused the shooting.

Police said: “The relationship of the victims, if any, is unknown at this time,” adding that the shooting remains under investigation.

In another incident, three people were killed and ten others injured in a shooting at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, on Friday (local time), authorities said in a press conference, CNN reported.

Arkansas State Police said the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. local time at the Mad Butcher grocery store, CNN reported.

Mike Hagar, secretary of public safety and director of the Arkansas State Police, said police quickly arrived on the scene and engaged with the “sole suspect” and fired shots. Both officers and the suspect were injured, but neither suspect was believed to be in critical condition.

There have been several shootings in the United States in recent weeks. Since last Friday, at least 21 more mass shootings have been recorded by the Gun Violence Archive. According to a CNN report, the Gun Violence Archive considers mass shootings to be those in which four or more people are shot, not including the shooter.
