Maryland beauty guru Rebecca Olugbemi hears the sound of gunshots killing her brother Isaiah Olugbemi

A Maryland social media video artist tragically captured on video the sound of the gunshots that killed her brother, a promising boxer and young father, while filming a makeup tutorial Monday night.

Rebecca Olugbemi was on camera demonstrating a skin care product at around 9:45 p.m. when a barrage of gunshots rang out. She stopped dead in her tracks and her eyes widened, according to the clip posted to X by an NBC Washington reporter.

The beauty guru cut the video and soon learned that the shots had been fired at her 27-year-old brother, Isaiah Olugbemi, outside their Odenton home, according to Anne Arundel police.

Isaiah suffered numerous gunshot wounds and was taken to the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Isaiah wanted to become a professional boxer and had just won the national championship in the Golden Gloves class (203 pounds) last month, his family told NBC Washington.

“I just want people to know that my brother was a great father and a great man,” said Daniel Olugbemi. “He just wanted to be a great boxer.”

His other passion in life was caring for his two-year-old son, they said.

“He always looked out for everyone and made sure everyone was OK,” Rebecca told the local Washington station. “I just want them to know. And he was just a hard worker. He accomplished everything he wanted to do.”

A day after the shooting, investigators arrested the Olugbemis’ neighbor, 36-year-old Nicholas Giroux, and charged him with premeditated and joint murder.

The murder appeared to be targeted, police said, and the family said Giroux had been attacked in front of them before.

The shooting occurred outside the family’s home in Odenton.

According to the news channel, Giroux is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on Thursday morning.

“Honestly, I don’t know what justice would look like,” Rebecca said. “I don’t know if there’s anything that could be done to improve the situation.”
