A 22-year-old graduate of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) was reportedly raped to death in Iyowa community in Benin City on June 13.

The victim, identified as Adekolore Idowu Glory, reportedly graduated in April 2024 and was said to have been applying for her admission when she was killed.

A social media user on X, who identified himself as Glory’s brother, said the deceased was attacked by unknown men when she was returning home from school where she was processing her clearance, adding that Glory’s body was found near her mother’s house.

He stated that Glory’s body was already deposited at the UBTH morgue on June 15 with the assistance of Nigerian police officers from the Ekiadolor Division.

The Edo State Police have not commented on the incident, but the victim’s family is calling on the police to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He tweeted: “Justice for my younger sister Adekolure Idowu Glory who was raped and killed in Lyowa community, Edo State, Benin. On her way back from school (Uniben), she went near her mother’s house for burial and handover of her body.

“Please help us get justice for my little sister who just graduated from the University of Benin (Uniben) in April 2024 and is still working on her projects and admission and was raped to death on Thursday 13/06/2024 on her way back from school, barely 22 years old.

“Her lifeless body was brought to UBTH morgue on 15/06/24 with the assistance of the Nigeria Police Force, Ekiadolor Division. She was beaten, raped and killed. Please Nigerians, come to my aid. The help I need now is only for my innocent sister. My mother cannot control herself.”
