A hotel receptionist in Jeju was arrested by police for allegedly sexually assaulting a Chinese guest after she gained access to her room using a master key, police said on Tuesday.

Jeju Seobu police said they are investigating an employee of a hotel in northern Jeju for allegedly raping a guest in her room at around 4 a.m. on Friday, June 27, while she was heavily intoxicated after a night of drinking with other tourists.

She later told one of her traveling companions what had happened to her, who then reported it to the police.

According to police, surveillance camera footage showed the employee entering the woman’s room shortly after she had been escorted back to the room by Chinese fellow travelers and then leaving immediately afterwards.

The woman told police she was too drunk to resist the employee’s actions.

The employee allegedly claimed he received her call from room service before entering the room and believed he was having consensual sex.
