South Carolina Supreme Court suspends Florence County judge

COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) – A Pee Dee hospital judge has been suspended for dereliction of duty by the South Carolina Supreme Court.

In an order issued Monday, the state Supreme Court suspended Florence County Justice of the Peace Tommy G. Mourounas on the grounds that he “failed to appear for duty in the Florence County Justice of the Peace on multiple occasions.”

The order, also issued by Chief Justice Donald Beatty, describes the alleged conduct as an “unacceptable affront to the fairness of justice and the practice of law.”

Mourounas’ suspension is also effective immediately and without pay, the order states.
