City of Atlanta opens cooling center ahead of hot temperatures and steam – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — Temperatures are rising this week and the city of Atlanta is opening cooling centers.

On Father’s Day Sunday, temperatures will be in the 90s.

Ashley Kramlich, Team 2 Severe Weather Meteorologist said a few isolated showers are likely during the second half of the day.

These isolated showers may result in wet conditions.

With temperatures rising, the city of Atlanta announced the opening of cooling centers on Friday.

Saturday was the hottest temperature of the year with highs near and reaching 100.

The center was open Saturday and will be open again Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The center is located at the Selena Butler Park and Recreation Center, 98 WM Holmes Borders Drive SE, Atlanta, GA 30312.

Water will be provided to residents while they are in the cooling center.
