St. Johns County firefighter and wife found dead in home

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A St. Johns County Fire Department lieutenant and his wife were found dead Thursday in a home in the Entrada Subdivision in St. Augustine, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said.

Lt. Shawn Yarbrough of the St. Johns County Fire Department and his wife Andrea Nicole Yarbrough were both found dead in their home around 9:20 p.m.

Police say Shawn Yarborough died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Andrea Yarbrough’s death is being ruled a homicide; she also died from a gunshot wound.

The cause of death was determined by Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Wendolyn Sneed.
