Critics: Leonardo DiCaprio “raped by bear” in new film

Was Leonardo DiCaprio raped by a bear in his latest movie?

According to the Drudge Report, the grizzly scene appears in DiCaprio’s Oscar-nominated film The Revenant, in which he plays American wilderness explorer and fur trapper Hugh Glass.

“The new film ‘Revenant’ contains a shocking scene in which a wild bear rapes Leo DiCaprio,” they claim. “This explicit moment from Oscar-winning director Alejandro Inarritu caused great controversy at early screenings, with some viewers fleeing for the exits when the Wolf of Wall Street met the Grizzly of Yellowstone.”

They claim that a brutal scene in which DiCaprio’s character is attacked by a wild bear actually takes a much darker turn… rape. Twice. By a bear.

Just let that sink in for a moment.

“The bear throws Leo over and poke and poke during the explicit mauling. He is raped – twice!”

“Not to be outdone, DiCaprio tears open a horse and sleeps naked in its carcass!”

The Revenant reportedly begins with this scene, which sees DiCaprio struggling to survive the winter after being left for dead by his hunting party… and seeking revenge on those who left him there.

But Drudge Report isn’t the only one claiming that this scene has a more sexually explicit tone.

“The bear flips Glass over on his stomach and molests him – even dry humping him – while nearly devouring him,” claims Showbiz 411. “How Innaritu and DiCaprio pulled it off is a cinematic mystery, because it feels as real as Bruce the shark did in Jaws 40 years ago. It looks as real as it can be, and is perhaps the most terrifying moment I’ve seen in a movie in ages.”

But did it actually happen?

Based on the 2002 novel of the same name by Michael Punke, the original version makes no mention of the character being raped by a bear. Although the injuries he sustained from his brutal mistreatment are examined by one of his fellow citizens, nothing…sexual is mentioned.

So why did several critics see sexually explicit scenes in DiCaprio’s abuse?

Maybe the bear’s movements on the screen somehow remind us of a wild sex scene… or maybe the critics are just on the wrong track.

Whatever the case, it looks like DiCaprio is finally getting the Oscar he deserves… even if events take a pretty bizarre turn.

“The Revenant” will be released in theaters on January 15, 2016.
