San Jose police arrest suspect in 2017 shooting – NBC Bay Area

A man considered the prime suspect in a fatal shooting in San Jose in 2017 has been arrested, police said.

William Vellmure Jr., 33, was arrested in San Jose on June 5 and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder, San Jose police said in a statement Tuesday.

On May 18, 2017, at approximately 10:10 p.m., police officers heard gunshots in the area of ​​South First Street and Edwards Avenue. They found a man with at least one gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as 38-year-old George Garza of San Jose.

San Jose police said investigators have collected clues and evidence over the past two years pointing to Vellmure as the prime suspect in the shooting.

Investigators are still investigating the motive and circumstances of Garza’s fatal shooting.
