Arroyo Grande police arrested man for car theft Tuesday in the 1100 block of West Branch St.

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – Officers with the Arroyo Grande Police Department (AGPD) arrested a 53-year-old man for auto theft in the 1100 block of West Branch St. at approximately 12:13 p.m. Tuesday.

Patrol officers responded to the calls and found the suspect in a Tesla, which was later determined to have been stolen from a car dealership. He also showed signs of alcohol intoxication, according to AGPD.

AGPD officers arrested the Pleasanton resident without incident after he previously refused to exit the vehicle after they contacted the dealership to have the car remotely unlocked, the AGPD said.

The following charges were later brought against the man, the AGPD said:

  • 10851(a) CVC – Vehicle Theft
  • 148(a)(1) PC – Resisting, Delaying, or Obstructing an Officer
  • 647(f) PC – Public Drunkenness
