Paul Flores, convicted murderer of Kristin Smart, changed prisons after the second attack

The man convicted of killing California college student Kristin Smart has been transferred to a new prison after being attacked twice. Paul Flores is currently in California’s Corcoran State Prison in Kings County, state records show. (Previous coverage in video above.) He was previously in Pleasant Valley State Prison in Coalinga, where he was attacked twice in eight months. In August, his throat was slashed by another inmate in the prison yard. He returned to prison after spending two days in the hospital. The second attack by another inmate occurred in April in the recreation yard. Flores is serving a sentence of 25 years to life for the murder of Smart, a former California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo student from Stockton. Smart, 19, disappeared on Memorial Day 1996. Prosecutors alleged that Flores killed Smart during an attempted rape in his dorm room at the university, where both were freshmen.
