Man arrested for sexually abusing his minor sister-in-law in Thiruvallur district

CHENNAI: The Thiruvallur district police on Sunday arrested a 28-year-old man under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act for allegedly sexually abusing his wife’s younger sister, who was staying with the couple to prepare for the NEET exams.

According to police, the victim also hails from a village in Thiruvallur district and has recently completed Class 12. She had been staying with her sister since April this year to attend NEET training at a government school in the district.

The victim’s elder sister got married two years ago and has a one-year-old child. She works in a private finance company in the district.

According to police investigations, the accused waited for the girl at the bus stop during the week in April as she went to her parents’ house and returned, and offered to take her to her tutoring class.

Instead, he took her to his home in his wife’s absence and sexually abused the underage girl.

He also threatened the girl not to tell anyone about the incident.

Last week, the girl complained of stomach pain and was admitted to hospital, where it was discovered that she had been sexually abused.

After investigation, Thiruvallur AWPS (Women Police) personnel arrested the accused. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in custody.
