Pennsauken Summer Kickoff canceled, 6 arrests – NBC10 Philadelphia

Six people were arrested Saturday night as an unruly crowd formed during the Summer Kickoff celebration in Pennsauken, New Jersey.

According to police, the incident occurred as the town of Pennsauken, New Jersey, was holding a Summer Kickoff event at the town’s soccer complex on Saturday night.

During the event, officials said, large crowds formed outside the facility as members of the community enjoyed the evening.

The crowds became unruly and, according to officials, led to the event being ended early.

The kick-off was scheduled to take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., but at around 8:44 p.m., community officials ended the event early with an announcement on social media.

According to police officials, after the event ended, officers were busy dispersing the unruly crowd. Six people – four adults and two children – were arrested.

Officers identified the four adults as: India Allen, 19, of Pennsauken, Yamilet Meina, 18, of Camden City, Damien Green, 20, of Pennsauken and Derek Berry, 18, of Pennsauken. All were charged with disturbing the peace and failure to disperse.

In a statement, Police Chief Philip Olivo of the Pennsauken Township Police Department thanked all officers from surrounding communities who helped control the crowd on Saturday.

“This type of disorderly conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Pennsauken Township,” he said in a statement.
