Free agent additions fit perfectly into Houston Texans minicamp

HOUSTON – The 2024 offseason was a busy one for the Houston Texans, who brought in several new weapons on both sides of the ball.

Between free agents like receiver Stefon Diggs and defensive lineman Danielle Hunter, the Texans’ roster will have more talent and experience when they open the season in September.

During the open portion of the Texans’ practice earlier this week, it was hard to ignore the energy the players had even as they stretched.

The clouds outside changed from white to charcoal black. When a storm hit, the team moved training indoors in its training bubble.

Inside the bubble, the team conducted offensive drills on the opposite side of the court. The defensive and offensive lines practiced on the side closest to the field.

Texans head coach Demeco Ryans beamed at the new depth of his club’s roster.

“I want as much depth as possible on our defensive line, and when you can have guys like Denico (Autry), Danielle (Hunter) – veteran guys who have played a lot of football and made a lot of plays – they know what it looks like,” Ryans said.

“Just look around the room and see we have depth. We have (sic) great guys in there,” Texans defensive lineman Denico Autry said. “Will (Anderson Jr.), Mario (Edwards Jr.) Danielle (Hunter) – just being able to play with those guys. I’m not trying to beat anyone, but (I) just want to be part of something big.

“I feel like we have a good combination of veterans and young guys,” Texans defensive lineman Danielle Hunter said. “What we bring as veterans, you know, we have wisdom that we can share with younger people. We have (sic) guys like Will (Anderson Jr.) who are hungry. Good combination of that. For us, the sky is the limit. »

The Texans will have a few weeks off before training camp begins in July. KSAT 12 Sports will continuously cover the Texans’ offseason leading up to their Sept. 8 kickoff against the Indianapolis Colts.
