Government employee convicted of raping a minor – Goemkarponn

PANAJI: The Goa Children’s Court, Panaji, has sentenced a government employee to one year’s imprisonment and a fine of Rs 100,000 for raping a minor girl.
Justice Sayonora Telles Laad, the presiding judge of the Goa Children’s Court, found the accused guilty of violating Section 354-A (1) (iii) of the IPC, which is punishable with imprisonment for one year, and Section 342 of the IPC, which is punishable with imprisonment for six months.
Under Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, the accused was found guilty by the court and sentenced to one year imprisonment and a fine of one lakh rupees.
In 2018, the Old Goa police filed a complaint against the government employee. Between 2013 and 2018, the victim had repeatedly complained that the accused had shown her his private body parts and watched explicit videos in her house.
In addition, he illegally entered her apartment, locked her up and sexually abused her. Ten witnesses were questioned by the court.
The case was investigated and PSI Vijaynath Kavlekar framed the chargesheet. Public prosecutors T Narvekar and Francisca Noronha pleaded on behalf of the state while advocates Anup Kudtarkar and S Khot pleaded on behalf of the accused.
