Guilty plea in Rochester child pornography case

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) – A Rochester man today admitted to a child pornography charge stemming from a Rochester Police Department investigation last year.

30-year-old Darith Chan Hin He pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography. The criminal complaint against him stated that numerous videos were found on his cell phone showing young girls, approximately 8 to 10 years old, engaging in sexual acts.

The search of the cell phone came after Rochester police executed search warrants last July that resulted in the seizure of the phone and other electronic devices. A total of three residences were searched as part of the investigation. The investigation was launched after police received a cyber tip that included suspected child sexual abuse material stored on a Verizon account linked to Hin.

Court documents say Hin admitted to downloading the videos from links he received as a participant in group chats on Facebook Messenger.

The verdict is scheduled for August. His guilty plea provides for a suspended prison sentence and probation.
