Man killed, woman, toddler and infant injured in car crash in southern Minnesota

WEBSTER TOWNSHIP, Minnesota – A man is dead and a woman and two young children were hospitalized after an accident in southern Minnesota on Saturday evening.

According to the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. in the 3000 block of 30th Street West in Webster Township.

The single-vehicle crash killed 30-year-old Nathan Thomas of Dundas, the sheriff’s office said. The 33-year-old woman who was driving was seriously injured and taken to Hennepin Healthcare. Two boys, one 2 months old and the other nearly 2 years old, were taken to the same hospital for “urgent medical attention,” the sheriff’s office said.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic incident,” the sheriff’s office said.

The crash is currently being investigated by several cooperating authorities.

“We are grateful for the quick response and assistance from everyone involved,” said Rice County Sheriff Jesse Thomas. “Thanks to the efforts of everyone involved, three lives were saved.”
