1 dead, 2 injured in shooting south of Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City police officers are investigating after a shooting Tuesday night left one person dead and two others injured, including a teenager.

The shooting was reported near E. 118th Place and Corrington Avenue around 7:30 p.m.


When officers arrived on scene, they located several people who called officers to a nearby residence where they found a woman outside suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to an area hospital where her condition was listed as critical.

Officers were then notified of another victim in the home who had been struck by gunfire. The second victim, a man, appeared to be suffering from gunshot trauma and was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A third victim, a male teenager, was taken to a local hospital a short time later, believed to have been involved in the incident. His condition was listed as critical.

The circumstances of the incident are currently unknown.

Investigators are actively working to identify a person who may be connected to the incident and police do not have anyone in custody at this time.

This is being investigated as a murder and is ongoing at this time.
