Rape suspect kills stepdaughter and himself

A Massachusetts man who is free on bail and charged with six counts of aggravated rape of a child kidnapped his 16-year-old stepdaughter, the victim in this case, shot her and then turned the gun on himself, police said.

The teenage victim was walking on Great Road after school near her Acton home when she was abducted by 49-year-old Juliano Santana, according to the Middlesex District Attorney. Her mother reported her missing around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities were able to track Santana using a GPS tracking device he was required to wear. They found him dead in his car, which was parked in the parking lot of the Pine Hill Condominiums on Route 2A at the time, WCVB reported. His stepdaughter was also in the car. She, too, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In September 2021, the same teen reported that Santana had sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions. He was subsequently arrested and bail was set at $30,000. He was later released on conditions that included wearing the GPS monitoring device and having no contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 18.

Police said the teenager also has a restraining order against Santana. His court date has been set for July 29, 2024, according to the prosecutor.
