Left in the dark? Dozens of Houston-area CenterPoint customers still facing power outages following deadly storm

HOUSTON – It’s hard to believe that dozens of Houston residents still don’t have power following the devastating and deadly storms that hit our area more than a week ago.

Caught in the middle: Residents of Houston Heights apartment complex still without power

As of 10:45 a.m. Monday morning, May 27, there were 563 remaining customers affected by 38 active outages, according to the Outage Tracker provided by CenterPoint Energy.

CenterPoint said these outages are primarily isolated incidents in specific areas where significant damage has occurred or customer-owned equipment, such as weather heads, is damaged. Some outages are also caused by unrelated service issues, such as car accidents causing downed poles and wires.

Restoration progress

Previous estimates from CenterPoint Energy predicted that nearly all customers would have their power restored by Wednesday evening, May 29, reaching up to 97% restoration according to their latest figures.
