Coroner: Rantoul man dies after domestic incident Sunday | News

RANTOUL – A 28-year-old Rantoul man died Sunday after being shot during a domestic incident, authorities said.

According to Champaign County Coroner Steve Thuney, Robert McKinney Jr.’s death was pronounced at 7:51 a.m. Sunday in the intensive care unit at Carle Foundation Hospital.

Mr. McKinney was shot early Sunday in the 700 block of East Sangamon Avenue, Thuney said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, Thuney said.

The case is being investigated by the coroner and the Rantoul Police Department.
