Severe thunderstorm warning for parts of southeast metro Atlanta counties – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — Strong storms are currently moving through metro Atlanta and northern Georgia.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for several southern counties in the Atlanta metro area.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Jasper, Butts and Putnam counties until 1 p.m.

Channel 2 Action News has received reports of falling trees in the metro Atlanta area.

Photos shared from Channel 2 Action NewViewers in the Dacula area show a tree coming down and blocking a traffic circle near a Bank of America on Braselton Hwy.

We also received reports of a tree falling on a car on I-985 in Hall County, as well as falling trees in Cherokee, Walton and Polk counties.

Team 2 Severe Weather Meteorologist Eboni Deon said that after the storms pass through the metro Atlanta area, there could be scattered showers and storms Saturday afternoon and evening.
