Coronation Street spoilers: Nathan is attacked, Leanne leaves and Kevin is unsettled by an internet search

There will be more drama in Weatherfield next week as Nathan Curtis’ return puts him in danger. But first in Coronation Street, Dee-Dee Bailey receives a call from Children’s Services telling her there is an update on missing Lauren Bolton’s phone messages.

Dee-Dee tells Carla Connor and Nina Lucas about the news that has come to light, and after Nathan returns and her new theory that he must have something to do with the teenager’s disappearance and suspected murder, Bethany listens, her mind spinning.

She then sneaks into the lawyer’s office and finds Lauren’s file on Dee-Dee’s desk. Later, Bethany questions police officer Craig Tinker about Nathan’s alibi, and when Craig reveals that Nathan was with his girlfriend and she works at a nail salon in the city, Bethany points out that he was running a tanning salon when he did her hair.

Meanwhile, Sarah Barlow confesses to Gary Windass that she is worried about Bethany as she is determined to pin Lauren’s murder on Nathan. As Daniel Osbourne and Bethany head out, they are shocked to be confronted by Nathan, who berates Bethany for harassing his girlfriend.

Sarah, Gary and Platt then discuss Nathan in the Rovers and agree that something must be done before he ruins Bethany’s life again. Shortly afterwards, Nathan is packing up his things at the construction site when a hooded figure approaches him and hits him on the head, causing him to collapse unconscious.

Later, as Bethany ponders who Nathan’s attacker might be, Shona Platt questions David about the stain on his jeans and is unconvinced by his story. David assures Bethany and Sarah that he is innocent, but they are interrupted by Shona, who shows the tracking app on David’s phone, which proves he was at the construction site when Nathan was attacked.

David quickly admits that he witnessed the attack but is not responsible for it. Bethany is convinced that her friend Daniel is to blame. Will she be right?

Elsewhere, Toyah Habeeb finds a forum for former members of the Altovalent Institute. She tries to show her sister Leanne Battersby a post she saw suggesting that the Institute cannot be trusted, only to find that the post has been removed for legal reasons.

Leanne is dismissive, but calls Rowan, who claims his bitter ex wrote it and there is no truth to her words. When Rowan reveals that he has been promoted to head of the Northwestern department and offers her a tour of the institute, Leanne is flattered.

Later, Leanne explains to Simon Barlow that she met a guy called Jared at the institute who would like to help him set up his food delivery app, and Toyah overhears. But when Simon reveals that Jared has agreed to meet up and he needs to borrow some money, Leanne is thrilled, while Toyah assumes it’s another scam.

Soon, Toyah studies Rowan’s page and copies a number into her phone. Toyah meets with Rowan’s ex, Una, and explains how her sister became involved with the Institute and she fears she is in danger.

Later, when Leanne leaves for the retreat, Toyah asks her to reconsider, but Leanne refuses. Simon is hurt when he realises that she has left without saying goodbye. After skipping work, Simon gets drunk before throwing up in Tim Metcalfe’s taxi and leaving without paying.

Meanwhile, Steve McDonald reads an article about Weatherfield County’s plans to honour Tommy Orpington by commissioning a bust of him. Steve meets with Demi and begins to denigrate Tommy. When Demi asks why he hates him so much, Steve reveals Tracy’s affair.

Steve shows Tim some pictures from Tracy’s social media channels of her paragliding over the Mediterranean with Tommy and he feels sorry for his pal. When Tim later reveals that Steve’s girlfriend Demi is an estate agent in Hale Barns, Sally is impressed and immediately lifts the friend ban. She is thrilled when Steve invites her and Tim to dinner.

A dejected Kevin Webster also admits to his sister Debbie that there is no more work at the workshop. Later, Max Turner shows Kevin and Abi the model of the new website and explains that it would cost £1,000 if he were to continue. Kevin refuses to pay the money. Later, when Kevin is browsing the Weathy County chat forum on his son Jack’s laptop, he notices something that unsettles him. And Paul Foreman eats his last meal before being put through a feeding tube.
