Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald reported that on May 10, a Somerset County jury convicted 19-year-old Yahmir Brown of second-degree aggravated assault.

The charges stem from an incident on November 23, 2022, when Brown and a minor co-defendant assaulted an employee of a local business on Hamilton Street in Franklin Township.

The victim suffered multiple facial fractures as a result of the attack, which were jointly investigated by Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Detective William Perez and Franklin Township Detectives Emma Bascom and Robert Brown.

During the trial, the State was represented by Assistant District Attorney Rory A. Eaton, assisted by Trial Assistant Maria Ducca.

Brown faces a prison sentence of 85% of which he must serve under the No Early Release Act without the possibility of parole.
