Fatal shooting at Castle Rock in Fairburn | GBI and police on scene

FAIRBURN, Georgia – One person is now dead and the suspected gunman has been arrested following a shooting in a Fairburn neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Fairburn police called the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the incident. GBI agents contacted 11Alive and confirmed they are processing a crime scene, but did not provide any further details at this time.

Fairburn police said the fatal incident occurred at 4:30 a.m. in the Fairways at Durham Lakes neighborhood in Castle Rock. The authorities are still on site.

Authorities added that this was an isolated incident and they do not believe the community is under immediate threat.

11Alive SkyTracker flew over the location where several patrol cars and a GBI truck appeared to be surrounding a van. There is also crime scene tape around the van.

The police did not provide any information about the suspect or the deceased person.
