TRAFFIC RED ALERT: Hazardous material spill on I-75 causes highway closure in Henry County – WSB-TV Channel 2

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. – Miles of highway in Henry County have been closed after a dangerous crash on Interstate 75 caused all lanes to be closed in both directions.

Triple team traffic said there is no estimate yet as to when roads might reopen.

Information from the Georgia Department of Transportation shows lanes on both sides of the highway are closed from I-75 northbound and southbound between State Route 20/SR81 at Exit 218 to Hudson Bridge Road at Exit 224.

“JamCam stills from I-75 in Henry County show a mix of severe delays and desolate stretches of highway. All lanes remain closed on both sides and there is no estimated evacuation time.” Triple team traffic said.

a GDOT representative said Triple team traffic that a hazardous materials spill was the cause of the closure of all northbound and southbound lanes of I-75. A post from GDOT 511 said a crash also occurred at that location. Clear time estimates currently show a 6 a.m. reopening, according to GDOT.

They recommend taking alternate roads such as HWY 23, HWY 155 and HWY 41 to get around the blocks while the road remains closed.
