Flora man arrested for predatory sexual assault of a child

A 26-year-old Flora man has been arrested for predatory sexual assault on a Class X child.

According to the Illinois State Bureau of Investigation, Braxton Allen was charged with the crime after he was asked by Flora police to conduct an investigation into alleged sexual assaults between May 1 and May 31 in Clay County.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) Zone 8 Criminal Investigation Division announces the arrest of Braxton D. Allen, 26, of Flora, Illinois, for Predatory Sexual Assault of a Child (Class X Felony).

After a thorough investigation, officers presented the findings to the Clay County Prosecutor. On May 13, Braxton D. Allen was formally charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault of a child and taken into custody on a Flora Police Department warrant. Allen was taken to the Clay County Jail where he remains held without bail.

ISP was assisted by the Flora Police Department, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. No further information is being released at this time.
