19-year-old woman gang-raped in Banswara

Udaipur,07.05.24 – A 19-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped by two accused who attacked her with a sword on her head and also chopped off her fingers to kill her in Banswara.

Although an arrest was made, the police claimed that the accused would be caught soon.

The incident took place around 12.30 pm on May 5 around Danpur police station when the victim girl was returning to her house after attending a wedding ceremony in the nearby village. The accused, who were in their early 20s, caught her and took her to a secluded place where they allegedly raped her. When she fought back, they attacked her head with a sword and also chopped off her fingers.

When her brother heard her screams, he and his mother rushed to the scene and found her lying on the ground in a pool of blood just about 200 meters from their house. They immediately took her to the local hospital and admitted her for treatment.

She received more than 30 stitches in the head and is said to be in stable condition, police said.

The police have filed a criminal complaint against the accused and started investigations.

Later, in her statement to the police, the victim gave the name of the accused and also said that they attacked her when she resisted them.

Deputy Sp Banswara Suryaveer Singh told UT, “The statement of the victim before the magistrate was also registered under Section 164 CRCP. She said in her statement that one of the accused, Kalu, was known to her, he forced her to marry him and when.” She rejected her proposal, he attacked her and raped her along with his associate Jitu. A case was registered against the accused under Sections 376, 307 and 363. Her condition is stable and she is referred to MB Government Hospital, Udaipur. We will arrest the accused shortly but investigation into the matter is ongoing.
