Prosecutor investigating man’s suspected drowning after canoe capsizes in Halifax – Boston 25 News

HALIFAX, Mass. – A man is dead after a canoe he was using capsized in Halifax Sunday morning, the Plymouth Country District Attorney’s Office said.

Halifax police received a 911 call from the boat ramp at 47 White Island Road just before 11 a.m. after a canoe capsized, throwing two adults and two children into the water, Plymouth District Attorney Tim Cruz says. By the time Halifax police and firefighters arrived, one of the adults and the two children had already made their way back to shore, but the man was still missing in the water.

Halifax first responders, the Massachusetts State Police detective unit, the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Dive Team and several local fire departments combed the water until the man was found around 12:42 p.m

The victim has not been identified at this time, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said.
