Stroudsburg wrestling coach killed in accident – Times News Online

The Stroudsburg Area School District’s athletic director was killed in a crash on Interstate 380 Saturday evening.

Monroe County Coroner Thomas Yanac said Sean Richmond, 38, the county’s wrestling coach, was killed in a tractor-trailer accident.

State Police from Stroudsburg were called to mile marker 1.4 in Tobyhanna Township at 6:08 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a truck. State police, fire and rescue services were on scene.

Police said Richmond was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital on the Monroe campus, where he died from his injuries.

Stroudsburg Wrestling posted on Facebook Sunday: “It is with a heavy heart that the Stroudsburg Wrestling Family shares the news of the passing of head coach Sean Richmond. Coach Richmond is an integral part of the greater Stroudsburg community and has dedicated his professional life to the student-athletes of the Stroudsburg Area School District. He leaves behind his beloved wife and daughters.”

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family with their expenses.

State Police are investigating and ask anyone with information about the accident to call the barracks at 570-619-6800.
