Thanks to a recently published Vanity Fair Profile/Interview, we got some interesting personal insights into FXX’s Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson & Danny DeVito– In the main role it’s always sunny in Philadelphia by Olson. Olson explained why “Sweet Dee” Reynolds “will always be there for her” — even “into her 90s.” Additionally, Olson shared why she believes the longest-running television sitcom in U.S. history has never been nominated for an Emmy Award — let alone walked away with gold. But for this breakthrough, Olson takes us back to when she auditioned for the role of “Sweet Dee” — and why she was on the verge of stepping down from the role.

“Well, ‘Sunny’ was a really happy accident. The audition was incredible because the sides weren’t for Dee. (Laughs) They changed a scene between Dennis and Charlie because they didn’t have any funny Dee scenes, so.” That’s what they gave me. But I didn’t know that. So of course they changed the name for the audition, and it was funny!” Olson talked about her first audition, which would give her the chance to make the role her own. “I loved it, I did it, and then Rob (McElhenney) said, ‘Put the sides down and we’ll do the same scene, but say whatever you want. Same scene, but say what you want.’ want.’ No one had ever done that before and I was like, ‘What?’ It was the funniest audition I’ve ever had and I thought, ‘I think this is my role.'”

But that excitement turned to concern when she read over the phone what had originally been written for Dee for a second audition. “It was only later, after they asked me on the phone, that I didn’t have to speak to their faces. I just told my agent when they said, ‘Oh, that wouldn’t be your character. Here you are.’ “Five scripts that were written and here’s the Dee character.” And it wasn’t good. So I passed. Luckily, McElhenney was able to explain to Olson that they wanted the Dee they met during their audition, not what had been previously written. “Then Rob called me and said, ‘That’s not what we meant. We want you to be you.’”

As for the reason she gave the role a chance, Olson cites the fact that there wasn’t a Dee script available at her first audition – otherwise she “probably would have passed” the audition – and we just can’t imagine anyone other than Dee Reynolds We will stop freaking out about “What if…?” that never happened. “If I had gotten an audition and they had literally just taken a Dee scene from the scripts they had already written, I probably would have turned down the audition,” Olson explained. “I just came from a show that was filming in England where I had a bad experience, and I said, ‘Okay, for the rest of my life I’m never going to take a job for money or just for the sake of being on it.’ want.’ TV.’ I would have missed the whole thing if I had a real Dee script.
