Pistol Shrimp game stopped in 8th inning, Shrimp trailing 3-6 – Shaw Local

The battle between the Prospect League’s top two teams was halted in the second half of the eighth inning on Thursday when the Chillicothe Paints led the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp 6-3 at Schweickert Stadium in Peru.

The game was stopped because both Chillicothe coaches were ejected.

When play resumes at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, the Shrimp will have a runner on first base and one out, following a second seven-inning game.

The Shrimp struck first on Thursday with two runs in the second inning.

A run was scored on a double play and Brandon Mahler scored on a passed ball.

The Paints tied the game at two runs in the sixth inning before the teams exchanged runs in the seventh inning.

Chillicothe scored three runs in its half of the eighth inning before play was halted in the home team’s half.

Ryan Niedzwiedz and Pambos Nicoloudes each had two hits for the Shrimp.

Zach Kempe started on the mound and received a no-decision as he threw four scoreless innings, allowed one hit, struck out seven batters and allowed one walk.

Jared Herzone threw three innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and six walks.

Tate Foxson allowed three runs (two earned) in one inning with no hits, one strikeout and two walks.
