These streets were pelted with eggs last night in western New York

You may remember a time in your life when you found it funny to play pranks on your friends by “peeing in the house” or throwing eggs at them. As you get older, you realize that these pranks aren’t as funny as you originally thought.

There are still people out there who try to do this kind of thing, thinking it will do some good or make a good joke. And unfortunately, there was a group that was walking around Western New York State Monday night looking for their next target.

Taylor, a resident of the Lancaster/Depew area, alerted the neighborhood Facebook group of what she witnessed:

If you live in the Losson, Benz, Sebring, Lemans neighborhoods… there are children walking around throwing eggs at the windows.

As you can imagine, people were upset to hear that a group was going around throwing eggs at houses in their neighborhood, but a select few were able to look on the bright side and say, “I guess this is better than breaking into cars!”

Another resident, Dana W, was surprised to learn that the act of laying eggs was still going strong in 2024, with the price of eggs being higher in local stores than in recent years.

“In this economic situation?!?!” Dana was stunned.

Not only are egg prices on the rise, reaching around $7 per dozen by the end of 2023, but eggs can really damage your car.

A raw egg on a car or house can peel off the paint, which can cause long-term damage. Throwing eggs at a house can be considered vandalism, which can be a felony or misdemeanor. So if you see someone throwing eggs at a house, be sure to call the police.

Oh, and keep Ring cameras charged!
