Houston Astros Rookie Goes Viral After Brutally Trolling Julio Rodriguez

Nothing is going the Seattle Mariners’ way at the moment.

First, the M’s lost five straight games and fell out of first place in the American League West. They were beaten back-to-back nights by their rival Houston Astros to fall into first place and saw a 10-game lead evaporate in less than a month of games.

And now they’re getting trolled by rookies with virtually no major league experience.

In the eighth inning of Saturday’s 4-2 loss, Astros rookie outfielder Trey Cabbage robbed Mariners star Julio Rodriguez of a home run. It could have been Rodriguez’s second home run of the night, but it turned out to be another out in a frustrating stretch of home runs.

Not only did he steal the home run, but he mocked Rodriguez’s “no-fly zone” celebration after doing so.

Now, for what it’s worth, Rodriguez seemed to take this lightly and have fun, but regardless, it’s just another sign that the Astros don’t respect the Mariners. And frankly, Mariners players and fans should be upset by this, because it’s another example of how the Astros disrespect Seattle — as they have for the past eight years.

Julio Rodriguez is a two-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger. Trey Cabbage is a player who has played 58 games in the major leagues and is hitting .233 with a home run this season. That doesn’t mean he’s not good or won’t be good in the future, but if he feels comfortable enough to make fun of you in your own stadium, that’s a sign that things have gone south.

The Mariners and Astros will play again Sunday at 1:10 p.m. PT.
