One dead, one injured in shooting in Parsons | KSNF/KODE

PARSONS, Kansas – A shooting in Parsons late last night left one man dead, another injured and a third man taken into custody.

Last night around 11 p.m., Parsons Police responded to the 2300 of Appleton where they found Tyler Epshire bleeding in the street. First responders took him to Labette Health, but he has since been transported to a hospital in Wichita.

While searching the area, officers found 48-year-old Michael Morales of Parsons hiding behind a tree. They say he had a gun in his hand. Police arrested him and said he tried to break free, which led them to use a taser.

In connection with the case, officers searched a nearby house and reported finding the body of Maurice Harper there.

Investigators say the suspect and the two victims knew each other, but they are still trying to determine what connection there was between them and what might have led to the shooting.

Morales is being held at the Parsons City Jail and faces numerous charges, including first-degree murder, attempted murder and weapons offenses.
