Couple charged with multiple sexual assaults of autistic victim in multiple counties





Hartville, MO – A Hartville man and a Monett woman are charged with sexual assault following an investigation in Wright County, Missouri.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hartville and Monett police departments were dispatched to a residence after receiving a call about a disturbance on July 1, 2024. When police arrived on scene, they found Randy Brown and Amy Mattlage standing in front of a woman sitting on the bed with no clothes on. Police determined that the victim had autism. During an interview with Brown and Mattlage, they found that these sexual assaults occurred on May 24 in Monett and May 25 in Hartville. Mattlage stated that she and Brown were married and that she allowed him to sexually assault the victim while she stood outside to distract anyone who heard screaming. During an interview with the victim, she stated that Brown performed sexual acts on her despite her asking him not to.

According to police, Brown and Mattlage had warrants for their arrest in connection with sexual abuse allegations in Lawrence County. Randy Brown admitted to the accusation and was charged with three counts of sodomy and three counts of sexual abuse. Amy Mattlage was charged with human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse. Both were denied bail and are being held in the Lawrence County Jail.
