Two dead after accident at middle school in Odessa

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Two people were killed in a serious accident.^and and Golder Friday night.

According to an OPD press release, officers responded to the intersection of Route 22 around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12.^and and Golder, referring to a serious accident. The investigation revealed that a black 2018 Nissan Altima was speeding eastbound in the 600 block of West 22^and Street. The driver then lost control of the vehicle, causing it to strike a street sign and the north fence of Bowie Middle School. The vehicle continued through the fence and struck the west side of the school, where it came to a stop.

Both the driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The OPD said speed and alcohol were suspected factors in the accident. Next of kin have been notified.
