Kaplan: A dead coyote is a danger

On April 30th or May 1st, as I was driving down RH Johnson from Bell Road, I saw a dead coyote lying on the curb next to the center island. I think a cone appeared on the second day, but the animal didn’t disappear.

Finally, the coyote disappeared on Saturday while the Prides were out cleaning up. So did they throw it away?

At this point the animal began to become fluid. There is a spot on the curb and road about 100 feet before Alyssum Drive.

For me, this has been a health hazard for people and other animals from day one. How civilized are we? Who came across this? This animal deserves better as a living being.

If this is the best we can do, we are a disgrace to our civilization. We are worse than the animals! If we want to fix any of the other problems, we need to start here and the rest will follow. Morals, ethics and integrity must be addressed.

I didn’t take any pictures because I thought we couldn’t do so badly in this situation. I talked to the sheriff’s squad and they didn’t know who put the cone on the coyote. I have contacted Prides and they are researching Saturday.

The Prides were out on Saturday, so did they notify the appropriate authorities and make sure the coyote was finally picked up? The curb and road are stained by the decaying animal and all that remains is a cone lying on the island. Shouldn’t it be properly cleaned and disinfected of the dead coyote’s decaying remains?

What happened here? Why is it taking almost a week to resolve this issue?
