NYPD: 26-year-old woman and 15-year-old boy attacked on bus on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, NY — An unidentified man punched two passengers on an MTA bus in the face in a brutal attack in West Brighton on Wednesday, police said.

The attack occurred at 11:35 a.m. at the intersection of Clove Road and Castleton Avenue on MTA bus S46.

A 15-year-old boy and a 26-year-old woman were punched in the face by the stranger, police said.

PIX11 News identified the victims as siblings Italia Fajardo, 26, and Jake Fajardo, 15. They were traveling with the elder Fajardo’s 7-year-old son.

According to an NYPD spokesman, the 15-year-old was hit on the left side of his face “with a clenched fist” and scratched on his left shoulder.

The police spokesman stated that the woman had suffered a blow with a clenched fist to the left side of her face.

“He just attacked us randomly and for no reason. We don’t know him. We’ve never seen him before,” Italia Fajardo told PIX11.

“He just runs around and hits people, and then everyone says get him off the bus,” adds Jake Fajardo.

The siblings told PIX11 News they were on their way to cool off at a nearby swimming pool when the violence broke out.

“I was standing at the door holding on when he hit me. I flew out of the bus, my slippers flew outside and my bag was scattered everywhere,” Italia Fajardo told PIX11 News.

The police are now searching for the man who fled on foot.

The victims were taken by ambulance to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton with minor injuries.

The investigations are still ongoing.
