HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — The cause of a fire early Tuesday morning that destroyed a bar and lounge in eastern Houston County is under investigation.

Shortly before 6 a.m., units from three Houston County fire departments and HCSO deputies responded to reports of a fire at the River Lounge at 3042 Highway 92 in Daleville.

The bar owner arrived at the scene shortly after emergency services and said crews were eventually able to extinguish the flames.

Photos show that the exterior damage to the building is minimal, but the owner said the interior was a total loss. The fire is believed to have started somewhere inside the bar and spread quickly.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

The owner said the fire put three bartenders out of work.
