AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Heavy rain showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday afternoon and evening, bringing some relief from the extreme heat. The next seven days will bring some relief from the drought across the CSRA.

Weather warnings (wrdw.com)

The minimum temperatures overnight will be above average and will only fall to 24 to 25 degrees early on Sunday. There will be a light wind from the south at 5 to 11 km/h.

Sunday will likely be similar to Saturday, with a higher chance of rain than usual, but highs will be lower and will struggle to reach 90 as skies remain cloudy for most of the day and rain begins to fall before temperatures can rise. There will still be a slight risk of flooding from downpours across the region on Sunday.

The seasonal summer heat and humidity will stay with us for most of next week, with morning lows around 24 degrees, highs between 35 and 35 degrees, and isolated thunderstorms each afternoon and evening.
