New app reduces stress in behavioral counseling after a car accident

CHATTANOOGA, TN – The moments after a car accident can be some of the most stressful of your life because you don’t know what to do. You don’t know how to handle it. A new local law firm has developed an app that will help reduce panic and potentially save you time and money later.

Brent Burks and his partner announced that they would develop an app to reduce the stress of accidents.

“A little over a year ago, the city of Chattanooga, along with my partner, announced that they were no longer going to respond to all traffic accidents. And they have very strict rules about whether they respond if it happens on the highway or if there are serious injuries. In so many cases, they don’t. In our entire civil justice system, information gathering is key in car accidents,” says Burks.

“Most accidents involve someone getting hit, someone running a stop sign, or someone rear-ending someone. And people don’t know what to do. And that’s where this app comes in, step by step. And it’s so simple. So we like to tell people it’s going to ask them about the other vehicles. Is anyone hurt? Do you need 911? Can you take photos so you can upload the photos to the app? It’s perfect for people who want to negotiate with an insurance company to have this electronic file with the name, insurance information, address, and photos of the vehicles. All in this nice little file that you can either send to an attorney later, or you can deal with an insurance company yourself if you want to.”

Most importantly, you’ll be given instructions because in that moment of panic, unless you’re a 911 operator and can keep your cool, the app will tell you, “This is what I do.” There’s a place for photos, insurance information, and even witness statements if there are any. The app is designed to make the claims process much smoother for you if there were no police officers involved in your accident. You can install the app and set it up for your kids, yourself, and your elderly parents.

Brent tells us, “It’s just a no-brainer. And look for the green checkmark, Crash Companion, and it’s free. I really don’t understand why they wouldn’t download it. Right? Take some time, play with it, put in the information about their loved ones. They won’t contact it in an emergency and be ready to go in case something bad happens.”
