Samantha Lakes founded “Lakes for Love” after her children became victims of sexual abuse.

“At that moment you are totally scared and really don’t know what to do,” she said.

She dropped off connection kits at the Kettering Police Department on Thursday.

Lakes told News Center 7 she founded the organization to provide support and resources to families going through traumatic experiences.

“I initially thought, why don’t we put them in police patrol cars so that if the kids are scared or feel unsafe, they have something to do in the moment they drive to the cars they’re in,” she said.

The kits contain activities and other sensory tasks to keep children busy during the initial police investigation.
