Oswego County todayOswego man involved in fatal incident being investigated by New York State Police

On May 7, 2024, at approximately 3:34 p.m., State Police in Elbridge responded to 2433 West Lake Road in the town of Skaneateles, Onondaga County, for a motor vehicle accident involving personal injury.

The investigation revealed that Christopher J. Hagan, 37, of Oswego, New York, was driving a 2021 Harley Davidson and collided with a 2015 Toyota Highlander driven by Christopher D. Harten, 58, of Cincinnati, Ohio , was driven.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle and motorcycle were both traveling north on West Lake Road when the driver of the vehicle attempted to turn left into the driveway at 2433 West Lake Road. The driver of the motorcycle overtook several vehicles in the left lane and collided with the vehicle that was turning left into the driveway.

Christopher J. Hagan was thrown from his motorcycle. He was transported to SUNY Upstate and pronounced dead at the hospital.

Christopher D. Harten was uninjured.

New York State Police were assisted at the scene by the Skaneateles Fire Department and Marcellus Ambulance Volunteer Emergency Services.
